Forward Ports for Hamachi
When you use Hamachi you might need to forward some ports in your router. The purpose of forwarding ports is to make a direct connection from the internet to Hamachi.
By default routers do not allow incoming network requests. By forwarding ports you can work around this limitation.
Configuring Hamachi
To the best of our knowledge, Hamachi uses a random port by default. So to forward ports for Hamachi, you first need to configure it with a static port. Here is how to do that:
- Open Hamachi and click on System, then Preferences, and finally Settings.
- If you are not already in the Advanced view, click the Advanced Settings link to go there now.
- Enter the port you want Hamachi to use into the short Local TCP Address and short Local UDP Address boxes.
- You can enter a different port for each, but we recommend they be the same to keep things simple.
- Leave the longer box itself empty, unless you fully understand its purpose.
- Save things, and restart Hamachi to enable your changes.
