Setting Up a Port Forward for a Synology DS1512+ device
You may need to forward ports in your router when you use a Synology DS1512+ device. Forwarding ports is used to allow incoming connection requests from the internet to a Synology DS1512+ device.
Routers do not generally allow incoming connection requests from the internet. A port forward can overcome this limitation.
Before You Forward a Port
Before you can forward a port you need to know the following things:
- Your router's internal IP address.
- The IP address of your NAS.
- The list of the TCP and UDP ports that you need to forward.
