Set Up a Port Forward for an exacqVision DVR

When you use an exacqVision DVR you might need to forward some ports in your router. A port forward allows incoming connection requests from the internet to go straight to an exacqVision DVR.

Routers do not generally allow incoming connection requests from the internet. By forwarding ports you can work around this limitation.

Remember to Do These Things Before You Forward a Port

Before forwarding a port make sure that you know these things:

Your router's internal IP address.
The internal IP address of your DVR.
A list of TCP and UDP ports that need to be forwarded.

How To Set Up Port Forwarding for an exacqVision DVR

The easiest way to forward your ports is to use our Network Utilities software. With Network Utilities, you can easily forward ports and also un-forward ports quickly so that you can keep your network up to date with the ports that you need forwarded and maximize your network security.

Alternatively you can do it by hand. The way to forward a port is:

Begin by logging in to your router.
Locate the section in your router that deals with port forwarding.
Type the IP address of your DVR into the correct box in your router.
It is now time to type the TCP and UDP ports that you are forwarding for an exacqVision DVR in the correct boxes in your router.

Some routers need to be rebooted in order for the changes to be saved.
