Set Up a Port Forward for TVersity Media Server
You might need to forward some ports in your router when you use TVersity Media Server. The purpose of forwarding ports is to make a direct connection from the internet to TVersity Media Server.
Routers do not generally allow incoming connection requests from the internet. Forwarding ports can work around this limitation.

Before forwarding a port make sure that you know these things:
- Your router's IP address.
- Your media server's internal IP address.
- Each of the TCP and UDP ports that you need to forward.
Locate Your Router's IP Address

Forwarding a Port for TVersity Media Server
You can use our Network Utilities software to automatically forward ports for you. Our Network Utilities software allows you to add port forwards and also remove them when you no longer need them to maximize your network security.
You can also choose to set up port forwards manually. The normal process for forwarding a port is:
- Log in to your router.
- Locate the section in your router that deals with port forwarding.
- Type your media server's IP address into the correct box in your router.
- Put the TCP and UDP ports that you are forwarding for TVersity Media Server in the correct boxes in your router.
Some routers need to be rebooted in order for the changes to be saved.
